Naoto Kurogane Age 17 Gender Male Height 5'9/176 cm Build Well-built Species dhampir/former human History cw: dismemberment, blood Naoto has a life one might consider hell. Born into the Terumi clan, a branch of the Amanohokosaka clan, his family was to serve the Amanohokosakas once he was of age, and was taught exorcism in order to do so. He was also trained by his mother in martial arts, and he grew close to her due to these sessions. As heir to the Terumi clan, he was born with the Eye of the Hunter, an ability that allowed him to see the life forces of others. However, that ended in a trial of blood and fire. He lost his family young to his own sister, Saya Terumi, due to inheriting Soul Eater, a parasitic power that drove her insane. She was stopped by Mei Amanohokosaka, and Naoto was soon the only one left of the Terumi clan. The trauma was too much for him to bear, suppressing them until he forgot. First, he chose to take on his mother's maiden name, Kurogane. He then moved in with his mother's sister, his aunt Yuki Hayami, who as a landlady gave him one of her apartments with rent so cheap it was free. He transferred to Shin Kawahama First High School, and tried to live out his life in peace. Bloodedge Experience - Part 1  It was a normal Wednesday in October, Naoto getting ready for a new day in school, but then he was caught in a Phenomena Intervention (an event changing for another), and Naoto got a glimpse of a little girl before the world went back to normal. The day went on, until Naoto saw a bug like creature chasing a girl down. Naoto recklessly ran in to save her, but before it died, it took Naoto's right arm. Close to death, the girl introduced herself as Raquel Alucard, and then promptly bit him, asking him to help her find the Azure. On Thursday, Naoto woke up, back in his apartment. He thought the day's events were a dream; that is, until he saw Raquel in his living room and his life force at 0 in the mirror. This caused him to scream, Raquel soon calming him down and explaining what happened to him. Due to being bit, he was going to be a dhampir for a year before turning full vampire, and the only chance of that changing was for them to find the Azure. For the time being, Raquel was sharing her life force with him, and that his new right arm was fashioned out of her blood. Naoto and Raquel soon headed back to the location of the fight, but found no evidence. Raquel then tells him that she needed Naoto to help her, to protect her from Spinner Superior, a mage that was out on the prowl for her. Naoto agrees. On the way back, Raquel sinks into Naoto's shadow for the sake of not being seen, and Naoto makes his way over to a vending machine. Before he could even make a decision, he was thrown into a wall by someone. He was killed twice, only to be revived by Raquel's life force. Before he could be killed a third time, the stranger's partner, who introduced himself as Relius Clover and the stranger as Valkenhayn R. Hellsing, stopped him. Valkenhayn leaves in anger for failing to kill Naoto, while Relius stays behind to tell Naoto some techniques on fighting immortals as an in-case, and advice for Raquel. Despite the trauma of the fight, Naoto and Raquel push on, trying to find whatever pieces of the Azure they can find. When they returned home, Clavis Alucard, Raquel's father, was waiting for them, if only to scold his daughter for being reckless. He then marvels at Naoto's arm and it's creation, only for him to cut it off soon after. He then reconnects it after making improvements on it for Naoto's sake. The party quickly ended when Valkenhayn and Relius came crashing in, fighting Clavis with all the firepower they could-- by the end, only the kitchen remained standing. A woman soon came in, introducing herself as Kiiro Hikagami as she explained what she was doing there as part of the Mitsurugi Agency, to which Naoto found suspicious. On Friday, Raquel enrolls in Naoto's school, and makes Naoto's life a living hell, even stripping when she finds out PE was on the schedule. After school, Naoto and Raquel return to see if there are remnants of the Azure at the school, as well as possibly find other Drive users. They were eventually led to the Student Council Vice President, and decided to investigate. They found out that Naoto's homeroom teacher was coercing her into sex, and that his sights were now set on Naoto's cousin, Haruka. Raquel tracks him down to the school, and they both make their way over, only to find his teacher trying to strip Haruka. This makes Naoto see red, and he slugged his teacher before pulling his cousin away. After that, Naoto threatened to beat him within an inch of his life, and his teacher grew beetle legs from out of his back, and a fight started. Despite being pierced in the stomach and the thought of his mother's death, Naoto soon activated the Bloodedge Drive, a power that laid dormant within him, and defeated his teacher by cutting him down. After being cut down, the Mitsurugi Agency's men, with Kiiro at the helm, soon arrived to clear the scene. Naoto asked Kiiro to make sure his teacher lived, and she told him that she will do her best to make sure the mess is cleared and everything is gone back to normal. Before Naoto could head home, however, Spinner appeared and threw Naoto into a wall, about to kill him until he was stopped by Raquel convincing him to leave. As they spoke about the incident, Raquel admitted that she was the one that told Spinner that he could have her if he could defeat Naoto. This, of course, pissed him off, but decided it wasn't worth fighting as life moved on. On Saturday, everything did go back to normal. On Sunday, Naoto returned to his apartment after being fixed. There, his sister, Saya Terumi, was standing at his door. Bloodedge Experience - Part 2 Saya walked into the apartment, and Naoto can only stand there stunned. Raquel and Haruka leave to give them time alone, which backfires horribly-- Saya hands Naoto a letter, and then slams him into the wall and activates Soul Eater. He's saved by Raquel, who felt something was wrong, and Saya leaves, saying that she only came to drop the letter off and that she would eventually come for Naoto's eye. On Monday, Naoto and Raquel have a chat about what exactly went on-- About Saya's relation to Naoto, why Saya had Soul Eater, Kiiro and why their heartbeats were in sync, and Naoto going into training for his eventual fight with Spinner. He agreed, and later that night, they tried to sneak out of the apartment, but were caught by his aunt. Even with a poor lie, she still let them go. By 1am on Tuesday, they had found another bug-like man, and with Raquel's help, they managed to kill him with a blow to the head. By 3am, the Mitsurugi Agency came to clean up the mess, and they returned home. While in the bath together (by Raquel's demands), Raquel explains that his transformation into a vampire, as well as Clavis' meddling gave him immense strength, but his progress was stagnant. By Tuesday evening, Naoto and Raquel went grocery shopping. It went well for the most part, until Clavis used Phenomena Intervention yet again. There, he asked why Raquel had chosen her, and why does he seek the answer. He seems pleased with Naoto's answers of not being sure and his desire for being human, so he explains Raquel's origins and of a battle he had with Soul Eater. They both agree that if it came down to it, they would fight for the Azure. Then, he was released, and finds Raquel yelling at him for not paying attention, soon telling him that she found remnants. They make their way over to the scene, soon finding Saya fighting Valkenhayn. Naoto charges in with a kick to Valkenhayn's face. They start taunting each other, soon ruined by Spinner kidnapping Saya while they were distracted. When they reached Spinner, they find Saya trapped in a giant bug. Spinner sends an insect to fight Naoto to stop him from saving his sister, and despite having the opportunity to kill Saya and prevent Soul Eater from going wild, he refrains from doing so, opting to instead tear off the insect's limbs. Naoto eventually saves Saya, but then Raquel gets caught by Spinner and soon fused into him, causing Naoto's arm to dissolve into blood. Defenseless, Naoto loses two more limbs to Spinner, and due to his connection to Raquel being broken, he laid there dying in a pool of his own blood. Before Spinner could land the final blow, however, black fog poured out of him, forming the limbs needed to move. He then activated Bloodedge and attacked Spinner with a scythe made of blood. It was enough for him to pull Raquel out of the fusion, causing his right arm to return, but his left arm and right leg returned to nothingness. Raquel quickly makes his way over to him, making sure he was alive, and Kiiro arrives on time to kill Spinner. She then heads over to Naoto, crying and apologizing over being late. She then fights Raquel for letting harm come to Naoto, but was stopped by Clavis. Naoto soon fell unconscious. After a few days, Naoto was recovering in a hospital ran by the Mitsurugi Agency, with metal limbs forged by Relius Clover, and Haruka and Raquel fretting over him. Raquel told Naoto that Spinner was not coming back, as he was thoroughly destroyed by the Boundary (a place that both everything and nothing exists). Soon, Kiiro comes in and explains why he had new limbs, and about her grudge against Spinner. It's then revealed that Kiiro was an artificial human, made from parts of her sisters that were all killed by Spinner. She then extends an offer for her to join the Mitsurugi Agency, to which he declines. Raquel comes back to stay with Naoto, with Naoto promising to find the Azure with her. Blazblue: Central Fiction After being thrown into the Boundary and experiencing multiple possibilities (timelines) at the same time, Naoto finds himself in the current Blazblue world, wondering where he was. He eventually runs into Celica A. Mercury and her protector, an automaton by the name of Minerva. After asking for directions with no luck as Celica was also new, Naoto describes Raquel and asks if they had seen her. Celica, mistaking Raquel for a similar girl named Rachel, says she knows where she is and they head off to search together. In the "next town" over, Naoto and Celica hear Nine the Phantom's voice, which tells them to find Izanami, the imperator, to claim their piece of the Azure. Celica follows this voice, as the voice was that of her sister. Naoto, having no other choice, follows. They make their way to the "next town", and as they do so Naoto asks Celica about her sister. As they make their way through, Naoto loses Celica, but catches Rachel out of the corner of his eye. He manages to catch up with Rachel, which only causes Rachel to lash out at him. After a fight between them, Valkenhayn, now much older to Naoto, steps in to protect Rachel. Here, Valkenhayn reveals that the Naoto in the Blazblue world is dead, and he has been for a very long time. Before Naoto could get more information out of him, he's teleported to another location. There, he was forced to fight Es (the self-proclaimed "Guardian of the Azure") and lost, soon booted out to another location. Afterwards, he ran into Ragna, fighting him when he didn't want to give information on Celica's whereabouts. After recognizing each other's abilites (Soul Eater and Bloodedge) and who really was Saya's older brother (Ragna's Saya and Saya Terumi), Naoto runs off. After that, Naoto meets Kokonoe, who also doesn't help him and attacks him for data, claiming that she couldn't trace him back to his own possibility. Seeing as she was absolutely no help whatsoever, he moves on. Makoto Nanaya is the next person to find Naoto, and Naoto sees a strong resemblance between Makoto and his aunt Yuki. Together, they head to a pocket dimension to look for Makoto's friend, Noel Vermillion. When inside, Es attacks Makoto, claiming that she shouldn't be there. Naoto runs at Makoto's insistence, as he was next on her list and she wanted to buy him time. Naoto then hears a request from Raquel to head to Cauldron located in the city of Kagutsuchi. Before he could ger there, however, he was stopped by Es, who told him that Makoto has disappeared. This throws Naoto into a blind rage, but manages to stop himself when he realized that Es did not move out of the way. That, along with the message of him being the future while she was the past, made him rush forward, promising to save everyone. After managing to make it to the Caudron, he spots Rachel in desperate need of help due to restraints put on her by Hazama, and breaks her free before she could be thrown into the Boundary to suffer for all eternity. Then, just before Ragna, who has gone berserk from the anger he felt that was only amplified by his Azure Grimoire (his right arm), could kill Hazama, Naoto ran in and stopped it. That fight fulfilled the request Raquel had given him, only remembered due to his travels in the Boundary: Save all possibility. Due to it being completed, Naoto was returned to his original world, but not before asking Ragna to take care of the Murakumo units, as they were just girls forced into a cruel fate. Naoto then wakes up back to his original world, with Raquel helping him up. Personality Naoto's only coping mechanism to fight his massive amounts of trauma is to repress and forget, but one thing remained: that he would live for those who didn't get a chance to. He lives life to its fullest, trying not to let anything weigh him down too much. He tries to keep a smile on his face despite any pain he faces, but also realizes that not everything is peachy keen. Because of his childhood, he answers things as directly as possible, even coming off as careless and blunt. Due to only having his cousin around to talk to, his ability to be anything but blunt has gone unchallenged. However, he's very quick to anger and will eagerly push buttons if his own buttons get pushed as well. This plays into his sense of justice, as he usually demands the truth and nothing but the truth out of others, especially before making opinions of others, and even more so before he starts to beat someone up. He has issues around large crowds or any enclosed space, as it brings him a sense of unease. This fear is stemmed from his trauma, but as he refuses to acknowledge it, he only sees it as mild claustrophobia. This fear of getting (physically) close is slowly getting better thanks to Raquel's antics, but will hesitate on letting people close to where metal meet skin. He can still form emotional bonds, as he can make good relationships easily, but it's hard for him to actively consider someone his friend. It takes time for him to build trust in someone. Despite his happy, almost carefree attitude, Naoto hides some very sharp intellect. Honed by his Eye, he can get a general idea of what people are feeling in the moment, and adjusts his responses accordingly. However, due to his lack of proper social interaction, this always doesn't work out in his favor. A tendency to speak his thoughts is his Achilles' heel. His trauma has also affected how he sees those he cares about; if they were so much in a little bit of danger, Naoto would drop everything in order to protect them. Even if the other person knew how to fight, Naoto would still be there to help. This desire to protect does backfire on him at times, as he loses a bit of his cool and will become rather reckless, but it comes from a place of genuine care. He simply doesn't want to lose anyone else. He may throw himself into danger for those he cares about, yes, but Naoto is very much the wary type, always careful of his surroundings and who is around him. He has great instincts and can usually manage to get himself out of problems using diplomacy, but when his words fail him, he can definitely protect himself. Despite everything, Naoto's greatest wish is to have a normal life again. Abilities & Inventory Eye of the Hunter: Embedded in his right eye, Naoto can see the life force of others. Said number shifts depending on a person's mood, energy, and body type. Bloodedge: Naoto's Drive. The ability to make weapons out of blood. Dhampirism: Due to Naoto's state of being, he has access to the speed and strength a normal vampire would have. Martial Arts: Taught at a young age, Naoto has some degree of practice in the field. Now it's his main way of fighting outside his Drive attacks. Edge of Eternity: His ultimate attack. He uses a blood made scythe to tear not just your body, but your soul to pieces. Rarely uses it due to death being its only end. Items: Magic Mask: will protect him from any dust/toxins, magic or otherwise!
